 f Ethics\, the geropsychology practice context has many unique facets that
  complicate application of privacy and information confidentiality practic
 es. Practicing in long-term care settings in particular requires complying
  with stringent professional and regulatory privacy standards which\, when
  combined with working with multiple stakeholders\, organizational dynamic
 s\, mandatory reporting\, and other contextual factors can create difficul
 t ethical and practical challenges.\n\nThis presentation explores privacy 
 practices and maintaining confidentiality in the context of treating older
  adults\, including documentation processes\, Medicare and HIPAA requireme
 nts\, and mandatory reporting imperatives (e.g.\, Tarasoff). Special empha
 sis is placed on what information "may" be shared versus what information
