Meet our LEAD Fellows
SCP welcomes new 2025-2026 Leadership Education Advancement & Development program Fellows. You are taking one step closer to becoming the leaders of our division and other organizations. We are very excited to be part of the journey and look forward to spending the next twelve months together.
Angel T. Mak, Ph.D., LPC
Angel is a recent graduate of Marquette University.
I completed my doctoral internship at Rogers Behavioral Health. I am passionate about bridging research, clinical practice, and community mental health services, and I greatly value opportunities to collaborate with other professionals, such as at the APA conference..
FUN FACT: I enjoy camping, sitting around campfires, and exploring waterfalls—especially going underneath them.

Cole Morris, Ph.D.
Cole Morris graduated with their PhD in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University with a minor in Women & Gender Studies. They are now a postdoctoral fellow focusing on Transgender Health at the Institute for Sexual and Gender Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
FUN FACT: They are a board game enthusiast, especially tabletop RPGs!
Cole is most excited about the LEAD Program because it is a unique and exciting opportunity to have a protected space to dive deep into what it means to be an effective and thoughtful leader, especially with the guidance of accomplished leaders in our field. I’m excited to cultivate my own leadership style and intentionally strengthen my ability to foster equity and justice within our field.
Nathan L. Smith, PhD, MSW, LCSW, LADC
Nathan is a Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow at Yale School of Medicine, providing clinical care across Young Adult Services, Child and Adolescent Services, and the Substance Use and Addiction Treatment Unit. His research and clinical work center on Black masculinity, community violence, substance use, and trauma-informed care, with a focus on culturally responsive interventions and relational healing.
FUN FACT: I really enjoy bodybuilding and healthy living, especially finding new ways to stay disciplined and grounded through fitness and nutrition.
Nathan is most looking forward to building community with other early-career psychologists and learning from mentors who have successfully navigated leadership within APA and academic medicine. I’m excited to develop my leadership skills while continuing to advocate for equity, representation, and systemic change in clinical psychology.
Nathan L. Smith, PhD, MSW, LCSW, LADC
Jen is a Clinical Psychologist in the Emergency Department at St Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, New York. Her clinical interests include psychological assessment and clinical training/supervision. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from New York University and her B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Public Policy from Stanford University.
FUN FACT: I am a West Coast Swing dancer and an aspiring tea sommelier.
Jen is looking forward to most about the LEAD program: Learning about taking on leadership roles in the clinical psychology community as I develop my professional identity as a clinical psychologist!
